Total Assets

The total assets in the company is made up of short-term assets and long-term assets. On its own, this figure does not reveal much. It must be compared to the total liabilities in the company and it must also be compared to the figures of previous years.

A more telling number is the net assets in the company. The net assets is also known as the book value of the company. It is the total assets less the total liabilities in the company.
