Eventually, the role of governing and regulating the trading of options fell into the hands of the SEC. It was then that options contracts started to become legitimate. An investment act in 1934 was also passed to legalise options trading. Options trading continued to grow and be accepted by market participants. By the 1960s, there was an annual volume of approximately 300,000 option contracts.
